Web Development

Web development, from focused websites to custom platforms.

Your website should make your business easier to understand and easier to work with. We build everything from focused service-business websites to custom applications, customer portals and platforms with more complex requirements. The starting point is the same: understand what users need to do, then build a clear, dependable way to do it.

Who it’s for.

  • Service businesses that need a clearer website with a page for each service.
  • Companies whose customers or staff need to log in, submit information or track work.
  • Teams outgrowing spreadsheets, plugins or a template that no longer fits.
  • Founders building a new web platform or SaaS product.

Problems it can help solve.

  • Visitors can't tell what you offer or how to get in touch.
  • The site is slow, awkward on a phone or hard to update.
  • Staff enter the same information in several places.
  • A template or plugin can't handle how your business actually works.

What a project can include.

01

Responsive design

Layouts planned for phones first, then tablets and desktops, so every page works where your customers are.

02

Content structure

Pages organized around your services and your customers' questions, with clear headings and a next step on each.

03

Forms

Quote, booking and contact forms that ask for what you need and send it where it belongs.

04

Customer portals and admin workflows

Logins, dashboards and administrative screens for managing records, requests and content.

05

Custom functionality and integrations

Features specific to your business, connected to payment, CRM and other platforms through their APIs.

06

Accessibility, performance and maintenance

Semantic markup, keyboard support, fast pages and ongoing updates after launch.

A marketing website or a custom application?

A marketing website explains what you do and helps visitors take a next step: read about a service, request a quote or call. Most of the work is content, structure and design, and it can usually be planned from a list of pages.

A custom application does work on behalf of its users. They log in, enter information, see their own records and move a process forward. That means user accounts, permissions, stored data and business rules, which take more planning, testing and maintenance. Many projects are a mix, such as a marketing website with a customer portal behind it.

How it works in practice.

A service-business website

Separate pages for each service, service-area pages, a quote request and a project estimator, as on the NickFix and Waste Warriors PDX websites.

Programs with registration

Public program information alongside log in and registration for families, as on the Outpost Athletics website.

An internal workflow tool

Illustrative example: a dashboard where staff review submissions, update statuses and export reports instead of passing spreadsheets around.

How we work.

01

Discovery

We learn who uses the site or application, what they need to do and what it has to connect to, then agree on a useful first version.

02

Design

We plan page structure, key screens and user flows and review them with you before building, using your real content where possible.

03

Development

We build in stages on a staging site, so you can click through working pages as they come together.

04

Review

We test on phones and desktops, check forms and integrations, launch, and then maintain and improve the site.

What affects scope, pricing and timing.

  • The number of page types and how much custom functionality they need.
  • Whether content and photos are ready or need to be created.
  • User accounts, permissions and the data the system stores.
  • Integrations and the access each platform allows.
  • Review rounds, launch timing and ongoing maintenance.

Limitations and dependencies.

  • Launch dates depend on content and feedback arriving on schedule.
  • Integrations depend on what each third-party platform's API allows.
  • Content moved from an old website may need cleanup first.
  • Custom applications need ongoing hosting, updates and maintenance.

Common questions.

Do you handle larger projects?

Yes. We scope custom applications, portals and connected platforms around the workflows, integrations and ongoing support they require.

Do you use templates or page builders?

No. We build with Laravel, React and TypeScript and write the code for each project rather than adapting a theme.

Can we update content ourselves?

Where it makes sense, yes. Editable areas are planned with you, so routine updates don't need a developer.

What do you need from us to start?

Access to your current website and accounts, your list of services, any existing content and photos, and someone who can answer questions and review progress.

Do you maintain the site after launch?

Yes. Ongoing support covers updates, fixes and improvements, scoped separately from the build.
